Some might argue that flavored spirits such as Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea Vodka need no more than water, ice and a tall glass to make it enjoyable. If that is how you enjoy your pre-mixed sweet tea drink, then that is exactly how it should be poured. However, some of us just can’t help ourselves when it comes to dabbling beyond what is already available.

Premixed co*cktails, liqueurs, spirits and juices are the equivalent of a lab kit to a mad scientist. We love to pour, mix, stir, shake, taste and see if there is some new flavor we can whip up in a glass.

A few years ago I asked Intoxicologist Facebook readers to create a fewJeremiah Weed Sweet Tea recipes using a variety of Jeremiah Weed flavors. Flavors included Sweet Tea, Sweet Tea & Lemonade and Sweet Tea Vodka & Bourbon Whiskey. The recipe requirements were minimal. Recipes should be simple with fall and holiday themes in mind. The thought is premixed co*cktails are purchased for ease of drinking. Turning a premixed bottled co*cktail into a custom co*cktail should be just as quick and easy when friends and family gather for a festive occasion. Readers came through with some great festive drinks.

Chris’ Cran Lemonade – recipe by Chris Chamberlain

2 ounces Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea & Lemonade

15 Fresh Cranberries

1/2 ounce Agave Nectar

Club Soda

Place cranberries and agave nectar in mixing glass. Muddle. Add ice and Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea & Lemonade. Shake to blend. Pour into highball glass. Top with club soda.

This tastes great. The underlying agave syrup is a terrific mix with the lemonade flavor. Definitely a better match than using simple syrup as sweetener. Excellent!

Julep Tea Spin – recipe by Cobey Flynn

1 ounce Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea Vodka

2 ounces Club Soda

Lime Wedge – Squeezed

Mint Leaves Garnish

Place a few mint leaves in bottom of glass. Muddle lightly. Add ice. Add Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea and club soda. Squeeze in lime wedge. Stir lightly.

This Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea recipe offers just a little more flavor to the traditional Southern sweet tea. It’s not quite a Mint Julep, but not quite sweet tea. Take this one out for a spin and see how you like it! Add more mint if you like, too.

Orange Swell – recipe by Aaron Yeats

1 ounce Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea Vodka

1 ounce Orange Juice

Splash Paula’s Texas Orange Liqueur

Build in a rocks glass over fresh ice.

The sweet tea loses a fair amount of sharpness with this fabulously rich and warming drink. The orange notes are quite sweet depending upon how much orange liqueur you use. If Paula’s Texas Orange Liqueur is not available, use an orange liqueur available locally.

Holiday Tea Nog – recipe by Katy Vaninger

4 ounces Holiday Eggnog

2 ounces Jeremiah Weed & Bourbon

Place ice in large goblet. Add premade Holiday Eggnog. Float Jeremiah Weed & Bourbon on top.

I am enthusiastically and wonderfully surprised by this particular drink. I am not a huge eggnog fan, but this is terrific! The Holiday Tea Nog is thick and rich. The flavor comes across with a little bit of black tea sharpness with somewhat of a darker fullness to it. If six ounces is too much for you, cut the recipe in half.

Cobey’s Cran Tea – recipe adapted by Cheri Loughlin from partial recipe submitted by Cobey Flynn using Jeremiah Weed and cranberry juice.

1-1/2 ounce Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea Vodka

3 ounces Cranberry Juice co*cktail

2 ounces Club Soda

5 Fresh or Frozen Cranberries Garnish

Place ice in goblet or highball glass. Add Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea and cranberry juice co*cktail. Top with club soda. Stir gently. Float cranberries as garnish.

Bite of cranberry plays well with the sharpness of sweetened tea. I love the color and garnish for holiday serve. It is also simple to make with easy to find ingredients. This drink is perfect for holiday parties, family gatherings or to kick back and relax with after all the celebrations have ended.

Sweet Lemon – recipe adapted by Cheri Loughlin from partial recipe version submitted by Shana Berryusing Jeremiah Weed and Limoncello

1 ounce Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea Vodka

2 ounces Club Soda

Lemon Wedge Squeezed

Lemon Slice Garnish

Place ice in rocks glass. Add Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea and Limoncello liqueur. Squeeze in juice of one lemon wedge and discard wedge. Top with club soda. Stir gently. Garnish with lemon slice.

Fresh lemon is just what the dentist ordered to give this drink just enough hint of tart and not too much over the top sweetness. Jeremiah Weed black tea flavor comes through with just enough flair in the finish.

Chris Chamberlain also submitted a recipe listing ingredients of Jeremiah Weed Country Peach, Fig Infused Simple Syrup, Apple Cider with splash of Club Soda. Katy Vaninger suggested a hot drink using 1 ounce Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea Vodka with honey and lemon juice to taste preference.
