Peanut butter & jelly thumbprint cookies are going to become a new household favorite. If your kids love peanut butter, they will love sinking their teeth into these soft and chewy cookies that make a Pb&J sandwich a thing of the past, and you will love how easy they are to make with just 5 basic ingredients. Make them with raspberry jelly, grape jelly, strawberry, or a combination of what your family loves. These peanut butter thumbprint cookies will become a cookie staple after you make them once.

Raspberry thumbprint cookies are such a fun and easy cookie to make and only needing 5 ingredients makes cookie making even easier. The fun begins with all the different variety of jellies you can use and mix and match. I love raspberry for its sweet, yet bitter taste, but how amazing would grape jelly be too?

What are thumbprint cookies?

They originated in Sweden and are called Hallongratta, which is a Swedish pastry meaning raspberry cave. In the United States we call them thumbprint cookies which can be easily made and flavored with vanilla and raspberry jam.

How to make raspberry thumbprint cookies?

  3. Using the back of a spoon, a tablespoon, or your thumb, make an indention in the peanut butter cookie creating a well. Fill the well with your favorite jelly and bake for 12 minutes. Can I freeze jam thumbprint cookies?

Yes. You can freeze the cooked cookies with or without the jam in them. Place them in an airtight container layered with parchment paper to keep cookies separated. If you freeze without the jam, once you are ready to serve the cookies you can add it in.

How long do thumbprint cookies keep?

Store your thumbprint cookies in an airtight container and place a layer of parchment paper between each layer of cookies in the container. If stored properly they will last up to 2 weeks at room temperature.
